Day 1:

Rome: Free Day

Buongiorno! Welcome to Italy and the first day of this 8-day Italian adventure. The tour begins in Rome, Italy’s fascinating capital city. Head out on a guided tour of the city. See top sights including the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and much more! Look forward to exploring much more on your free day tomorrow!

Day 2:

Rome: Free Day

Today, the group has a free day in Rome. Embrace the history, culture and food of this ever-popular travel destination! Today is the perfect opportunity for a day trip to the world’s smallest country. The Vatican City is home to the Pope and the Sistine Chapel, which showcases some of the most famous artworks in the world including Michaelangelo’s remarkable ceiling fresco! The Vatican Museums offer a fantastic learning opportunity with historic artefacts and artworks which date back thousands of years.

Day 3:

Orvieto - Venice

This morning, the tour makes its way through Italy’s Umbria region. Stop along the way in Orvieto, a beautiful city perched on a rock cliff. Take the funicular up to the historic centre. Here, admire the 14th-century Orvieto Cathedral, the papal residence and the Albornoz fortress. Later, travel to Venice. This is one of Italy’s most popular travel destinations and during your visit, you’ll get to discover why! Get your first taste of Venice while you marvel at the sights of this magical floating city from the water aboard a traditional gondola.

Day 4:

Venice

Get to know Venice on an orientation tour with the tour director this morning. Discover some of the city’s top attractions such as St Mark’s Square, St Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, Rialto Market and much more, all of which you’ll see while walking through the city. Afterwards, enjoy free time in Venice. Stroll the streets and absorb the captivating atmosphere of the city. Admire the bridges and canals, see the historic architecture and be sure to try some local food as you go!

Day 5:

Lake Garda - Florence - Tuscany

The tour travels to the stunning city of Florence today! En route, stop at the picturesque Lake Garda for a photo opportunity. Once in Florence, enjoy a guided walking tour. Florence is home to many spectacular Renaissance buildings and artworks. See some of Florence’s most important sights such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Ponte Vecchio, the replica statue of David and the Piazza Della Signoria. After the tour, learn about Italian leather crafting with a visit to a local leather shop and factory.

Day 6:

Cinque Terre - Pisa - Tuscany

This morning, travel to one of the most picturesque cities in all of Italy, La Spezia! This is the gateway to Cinque Terre which is made up of five colourful coastal cliff-side towns; Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Cars and motorbikes are banned from these towns making it the perfect area to explore on foot or by train. Later, travel back to Tuscany and stop off to see the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa on the way! Don’t forget to get a picture of you “holding up” the tower which is over 800 years old!

Day 7:

San Gimignano - Siena - Rome

Prepare to see some magnificent landscapes this morning as the tour travels through the Tuscan countryside. The views of rolling hills, olive groves and Tuscan farmhouses are truly a sight to behold. Today’s first stop is the walled hilltop town of San Gimignano which is known for its incredible Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Next, visit Siena. This medieval city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and notably holds the Palio horse race twice a year. Finally, head back to Rome for the last night of the tour.

Day 8:

End of tour

It’s time to say Arrivederci! This 8-day Italian adventure comes to an end this morning after breakfast. The Young Explorer wishes you a safe journey home!
